Going Under With Friends

The summer of 1999 diving and partying crowd.  Whether it be in Praiano or at one of our houses, this group knew how to have fun.  I just noticed, there are two guys in this picture I don't even know!  Guess they just wanted in on the fun.

We brought our own pseudo Italian babe with us.

THEN WE WENT DIVING!

I normally jump in like this and put the rest of my gear on in the water.  Much easier than lugging the heavy tank around.

Carol, takes a swim.  She has been as deep at 102 feet and is qualified as an advanced diver.

Jennifer tries out diving.  The black thing to her right is her instructor, Steve England.  The water is only two feet deep where he is standing.

Jennifer obviously likes diving.  This was her first dive and she went to 51 feet for about 30 minutes.

This is an "Eye of Lucia".  One of the treasures divers hunt for.  Saint Lucia is the Italian patron saint for eye problems.  It is set in a gold frame and hangs on a gold neck chain.  It is actually the little door that certain kinds of snails use to close their shell when attacked.  (Those are fingers in the  background)
